Breath is a brief performance, utilizing a single tea light, a speaker, and a translucent mask reminiscent of a respirator. When my father fell to his illness, one distinct memory was the sound of the machine helping him to breath. This work was meant to take away the machine, and recreate his breath, up until his last one. For this performance I held a tea light in my mouth while open and closing it with the sound of a pre-recorded breath, whilst wearing the “respirator” mask.
